Hodgdon CFE 223 powder was developed for use in military propellants to deter copper fouling, hence the acronym CFE (copper fouling eraser). This means a lot less time needed for cleaning, and you do not have to do it as often. Hodgdon CFE 223 is most commonly used for Match, Varmint, and AR shooters, but can also be used in many other popular cartridges such as the 223 Remington, 22-250 Remington, and the 308 Winchester.

Hodgdon CFE 223 – 1 lb is a revolutionary, spherical powder was introduced by Hodgdon in January of 2012. This extremely versatile rifle propellant was developed as a copper fouling deterrent as it incorporates in its formula CFE or Copper Fouling Eraser, an ingredient initially used by the military.
